Welcome to WP AI Writer!
Take your WordPress site(s) to the next level with automated article creation and publishing.
Follow this quick guide to get started with your AI Agent and watch your sites grow on autopilot!
Step 1: Connect Your WordPress Sites
- Log in to your WP AI Writer account.
- Go to the Settings > Add Website tab.
- Add your WordPress site(s) by entering your site’s name, URL, language, username and Application Password.
Follow the WP Application Password setup guide for step-by-step instructions if you don’t know how to set it up.
You may define a Posting schedule (the “Every 10 minutes” schedule is available by default), or leave it blank for now.
Add up to 10 of your website’s main themes (in your site’s language), as a list of comma-separated themes/keywords. This step will later provide more context for your LLM to generate more relevant content, and therefore ultimately, better content for your website.
Click “Save” when you’re ready with your website. - In your list of websites (in the Settings > Websites tab), you should see your new website listed.
Click on “Test Connection” to confirm your Application Password works.
Optionally, you may also click on “Post Test Draft” to check if you can actually receive articles. When you see the success message, you should have a new draft entitled “TEST DRAFT POST | WP AI Writer” in your WordPress’s site posts admin.
Step 2: Connect Your LLM API Provider(s)
- If you don’t have an LLM API Provider, create an account with your favorite company and ensure you have credits to start using the LLMs. We suggest creating an OpenAI API account, as OpenAI’s language models have successfully been tested throughout the various functions of WP AI Writer.
Follow the OpenAI API account setup guide for step-by-step instructions. - Create an API key with your Large Language Model (LLM) API provider, make sure to save the provided key code, as it will only be available upon the creation of the key.
- Navigate to the Settings > Add LLM Provider section.
- Select your LLM provider from the list of supported providers.
- Enter the API key you created.
Click “Save” when you’re ready with your LLM provider. - In your list of LLM Providers (in the Settings > LLM Providers tab), you should see your new LLM Provider listed. Click on “Test Connection” to ensure everything works perfectly.
- Optionally, you may also click on “Test LLM” to see if it is ready for work.
Step 3: Create Your First Article Outline
- Go to the Generator > Create Single Outline tab.
- Select your tested website and LLM model, the default writing prompt (or your custom prompt if you have already created one) and define if you want to post a draft or publish directly. We suggest to post drafts while you test and tune WP AI Writer until you find the settings that work best for you.
- Add the title of the article you want to post, and optionally, you may also add a generation guideline of what the article should contain. This guideline tends to work well when entering a comma-separated list of elements to include in your post.
For example, an article entitled “Advanced Customization Techniques in WordPress” might have a guideline defined as “Highlight custom themes, CSS tweaks, child themes; cover page builders, hooks, filters, creating custom post types; showcase real-world examples.” - Optionally, you may also enter a slug for the article (which will otherwise be automatically optimized for SEO), the ID (unique WP number) of one or multiple categories you want to include your article in, and the ID (unique WP number) of the image you want to use as a thumbnail.
- Save your article outline.
Step 4: Generate & Post Your First Article
- Now go to your Blog Posts Generator’s (in the Generator > Blog Posts Generator tab) and in your Blog Posts Generation Queue you should see your article’s outline. Manually launch the creation and publishing of your article in your website by clicking on the button “Generate & Post”. Wait a moment until the confirmation of the task completion.
- Go to your WordPress website’s administration, and find your new article in the list of posts.
- Voilà! Your first article has been created by WP AI Writer!
